“Lose Weight & Get Tone” What Does it Really Mean
Those words by far represent the most common fitness goals presented to personal trainers!
Having fitness goals is necessary. But, understanding your fitness goal isn't always a simple as rambling off some cliché statement.
Consider the former phrase “Lose Weight”. Losing weight as a goal is actually quite vague. You can “lose weight” in any number of ways such as kicking off your shoes before weighing in, stripping down butt naked after your morning bathroom stop, or becoming very ill causing un-planned weight loss.
You see, weight is not being properly defined in this goal. And furthermore it begins to take on more of an unhealthy fixation rather than an achievable goal.
What I believe most people are really wanting when they say those words are not actually ascetics at all, but rather a feeling of mental and physical wellness.
I know all too well that there is NO number on the scale that will bring you happiness forever.
However, what I am most confident of, is that the lessons we learn when we stay the course to overall good health and physical fitness is one that brings lasting positive change into our lives.
I hope we can all remember that as we plan our goals in life. May there be lasting changes that bring health, longevity and good times!
